2012  ALES #1    Saturday, April 21, 2012   -   Results

This was the first of 5 MOSS sponsored Altitude Limited Electric Soaring (ALES) contests for 2012

Location: Ohio Willow Wood plant; 15441 Scioto Darby Road, Mt. Sterling, Ohio 43143

Rain was forecast for the morning until about 10 AM, so the pilots meeting was delayed until 10:30 AM with intentions of flying soon after. Mother nature dealt us rain, then mist with a low ceiling until about 12:30 when the rain and mist stopped and we began flying

At that point condition were very flyable. Temps were in the low 60's depending on which weather station's historical data one believes. For those of us who flew, it seemed a bit colder as many of us were wet from the mist hat preceded our flying.  Winds were basically out of the North. Again, depending on which weather station one consulted, the winds were in the range of 8-12 mph.  The good news was that the winds were very steady and did not change direction.
