Location: Ohio Willow Wood plant; 15441 Scioto Darby Road, Mt. Sterling, Ohio 43143

Great weather was forecast and came to be, light winds and mild temperatures were on tap for the day

13 pilots showed up to fly, and a total of 6 rounds were flown.  Two pilots did not take to the air due to mechanical issues, while another dropped for the same reason.  Yet another had issues seeing his plane and stopped flying as the thermals got more intense.  Seems his eyeglasses were broken the day before and seeing his model in the high climbing thermals was too difficult without the aid of his glasses

Thermals were abundant but at times tricky.  Many a pilot got too high too quick and after coming down found nothing but sink that resulted in less than max flight times.  Also, at times a thermal would seemingly just shut down, again leaving you in nothing but sink. 

Bill Hoelcher led the field the entire day getting his time on the first 4 rounds, and winning his group in round 5 with a less than max flight time in round 5.  Going into the 6th and final round Bill had an appreciable lead only to have a short flight of around 6 minutes with Chip Willis and Don Harris both making the full 10 min max time.  But Bill's drop was not enough as he still total at the end of the day still prevailed.

Mark Groves brought the grill and served as chief hot dog turner while Jay Watkins stood in for him at times. A donation jar was put out to cover the cost of the food, hopefully covering expenses.   The crowd seemed to like the lunch.  I personally hope we do that again! Thanks guys!

There were several other noteworthy things to report, but they are escaping me know, I will try and fill them in when they come to me.

All in all, good flying fly everyone, and my perception was all had a good time!

The conditions after the contest were great, and Mark Groves was spotted spending a good deal of time flying, presumably practicing up for the next ALES meet.
